Indonesian officials said Monday a helicopter, carrying four rescue workers and four Navy officers, crashed on its way to help evacuate people from an active volcano killing all on board.
The helicopter crashed into a cliff Sunday in the Temanggung district of Central Java province. The Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency said all the bodies have been recovered.
The Navy officers and the rescue workers were slated to participate in the evacuation mission at Dieng Plateau, following Sunday’s eruption of a volcano that injured at least five people when it spewed cold lava, ash and mud as high as 50 meters.
Dieng Plateau is a popular tourist attraction with its ninth-century Hindu temples.
