Suicide Blast Rocks Afghan Capital
A suicide bomber struck an Afghan forces’ convoy in Kabul Thursday night, killing at least 15 people, health ministry officials confirmed.
Participants of a demonstration reportedly wanted to set fire to a city policy station, prompting authorities to dispatch personnel of the Afghanistan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) to secure the facility. The bomber detonated his explosives shortly after ANCOP convoy arrived at the site.
There were no immediate claims of responsibly for the attack.
Kabul has suffered repeated suicide attacks in recent weeks. The deadliest bombing occurred last week that killed more than 40 people and wounded around 90 others. The bomber blew himself up inside a Shi’ite Muslim cultural center in the city. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the bloodshed.
